Ingredients

  • 4 pieces apples any baking apple variety like Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Gala
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar optional, adds caramel flavor

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Small bowl
  • Cooking tongs

Method

  1. Wash and core the apples, then slice them into halves or quarters, depending on size.
  2. Mix the cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar in a small bowl to create a fragrant spice mixture.
  3. Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly over the cut apple pieces, pressing gently to help it adhere.
  4. Place the spiced apples in the air fryer basket, arranging them in a single layer so they cook evenly.
  5. Set the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and cook for about 10 minutes, until the apples are tender and the skins start to caramelize, releasing a warm, spicy aroma.
  6. Use tongs to carefully remove the apples from the air fryer and transfer to a serving dish.
  7. Serve immediately, enjoying the crispy-edged, caramelized apples that boast a tender interior and fragrant spice coating.

Notes

For extra caramelization, sprinkle some additional brown sugar on top before cooking. These apples are perfect on their own or served with a dollop of yogurt or whipped cream.
