Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats preferably thick-cut
  • 1 cup milk dairy or plant-based
  • 2 ripe bananas mashed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup optional, for sweetness
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Jar or container with lid

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Stir well to evenly distribute the spices.
  2. Add the mashed bananas to the bowl, breaking them apart with your spoon to ensure they’re evenly coated with the oats and cinnamon.
  3. Pour the milk into the mixture, stirring gently until everything is combined and the oats are fully submerged, creating a thick, creamy mixture.
  4. If desired, drizzle in honey or maple syrup for added sweetness, then give the mixture a final stir.
  5. Spoon the mixture into a jar or container with a lid, smoothing the top gently.
  6. Seal the container and place it in the refrigerator overnight, allowing the oats to soak and develop a pudding-like, moist texture infused with banana and cinnamon aromas.
  7. The next morning, open the jar to find a creamy, fragrant oats mixture with visible banana flecks and a soft, pudding-like consistency, ready to enjoy straight from the fridge.

Notes

For added flavor, top with sliced bananas, nuts, or a drizzle of extra honey before serving.
