Ingredients

  • 8 oz pasta shapes (e.g., mini shells or cavatappi) uncooked
  • 1 lb ground beef preferably lean
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 Tablespoon salt for boiling water and seasoning
  • 1/4 cup milk optional, for creaminess
  • to taste salt and pepper for seasoning

Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Cooking spoon or spatula
  • Pot for boiling pasta

Method

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil over high heat, adding salt to taste. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned evenly, about 5-7 minutes, until a rich brown color appears and juices run clear.
  3. Add drained pasta to the skillet with the cooked beef. Stir to combine, ensuring even distribution of meat and pasta.
  4. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the hot mixture. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the cheese begins to melt and coats the pasta and beef evenly.
  5. Pour in milk if using, and stir until the mixture becomes creamy and cheese is fully incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through and thickened slightly.
  6. Remove from heat and serve immediately, optionally garnished with additional cheese or herbs. Enjoy the comforting, cheesy chaos in every bite.
