Method
 

  1. Place the fresh tart cherries into a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker.
  2. Use a muddler to gently crush the cherries, pressing down to release their juicy, bright red liquid while transforming their texture from firm to squished and juicy.
  3. Add the sharp gin and simple syrup to the muddled cherries in the shaker.
  4. Fill the shaker with ice cubes, then securely close it and shake vigorously until the mixture is well chilled and slightly frosted on the outside of the shaker.
