  • 2 cups ice enough to fill the mug about two-thirds
  • 45 ml vodka or gin for a twist
  • 30 ml cranberry juice preferably unsweetened
  • 0.5 lime lime juiced for half a lime
  • 100 ml ginger beer fizzy and spicy
  • a handful fresh cranberries for garnish
  • 1 sprig mint for garnish

Method
 

  1. Fill a copper mug with ice, about two-thirds full, creating a cold base for your drink.
  2. Measure and pour 45 ml of vodka over the ice, listening for the gentle splash and watching the ice settle.
  3. Add 30 ml of cranberry juice, watching it swirl into the vodka, creating a vibrant red hue.
  4. Squeeze the juice of half a lime into the mug using a citrus squeezer, releasing a fresh, citrus aroma as the liquid drips in.
  5. Top off the drink with about 100 ml of ginger beer, pouring gently to preserve the bubbles and listening for the fizz.
  6. Gently stir the mixture with a bar spoon to combine all the flavors, watching the color deepen and listening for a soft clink as the spoon moves through the drink.
  7. Garnish the cocktail with a handful of fresh cranberries and a sprig of mint, placing them on top for a festive, colorful presentation.
