Ingredients

  • 4 cups frozen or freshly made French fries preferably thick-cut
  • 1 cup beef gravy homemade or store-bought
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded

Equipment

  • Frying pan
  • Saucepan
  • Ladle
  • Baking sheet or plate
  • Cheese grater

Method

  1. Preheat your oven or air fryer according to the fries package instructions. Spread the fries on a baking sheet or place in the fryer basket. Bake or fry until golden brown and crispy, approximately 15-20 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway through. Remove and set aside.
  2. While fries cook, heat the beef gravy in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally, until heated through and slightly thickened—about 5-7 minutes. Keep warm.
  3. Once the fries are ready, transfer them to a heatproof serving dish. Pour the warm beef gravy evenly over the crispy fries, covering them generously.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the gravy-covered fries. Place in a broiler or under a grill set to high, and cook for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
  5. Remove from oven and serve immediately. The dish should display crispy fries topped with melted cheese and a generous layer of thick gravy.
