Slice the English muffin in half and toast until golden brown in a toaster or on a skillet over medium heat, about 2-3 minutes per side. Set aside.
Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and add a teaspoon of oil or butter. Place the ham slices in the pan, and cook until edges are crispy and browned, approximately 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

In the same pan, crack the large egg and cook over medium heat for about 2-3 minutes until the whites are set but the yolk remains runny. Use a spatula to gently lift the edges and cook evenly. Season with salt and pepper.

Place a slice of cheese on top of the egg during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt slightly. Once done, carefully transfer the egg to a plate.
