  • 1 slice English muffin
  • 2 slices ham preferably sliced
  • 1 large egg fresh
  • 1 slice cheddar cheese or preferred cheese
  • 1 tomato tomato sliced into rounds
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oil or butter cooking fat

Method
 

  1. Slice the English muffin in half and toast until golden brown in a toaster or on a skillet over medium heat, about 2-3 minutes per side. Set aside.
  2. Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and add a teaspoon of oil or butter. Place the ham slices in the pan, and cook until edges are crispy and browned, approximately 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

  3. In the same pan, crack the large egg and cook over medium heat for about 2-3 minutes until the whites are set but the yolk remains runny. Use a spatula to gently lift the edges and cook evenly. Season with salt and pepper.

  4. Place a slice of cheese on top of the egg during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt slightly. Once done, carefully transfer the egg to a plate.

  5. Assemble the sandwich by layering a toast half with a cooked ham slice, topped with the cheesy fried egg, and adding a few slices of tomato. Cover with the other half of the toasted muffin to complete.
