Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken breasts cut into strips
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour for dredging
  • 2 eggs eggs beaten
  • 1.5 cups panko breadcrumbs for crunchiness
  • 1 teaspoon paprika smoked or sweet
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil for frying

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Frying pan or deep fryer
  • Tongs
  • Baking sheet (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat; it should shimmer but not smoke, and be about 350°F if using a thermometer.
  2. Slice the chicken breasts into uniform strips, about 1 inch wide; this helps them cook evenly and get that perfect crispy bite.
  3. Set up three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs mixed with paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Dredge each chicken strip in the flour, coating fully and shaking off excess—this creates a dry surface for the egg to adhere to.
  5. Dip the floured chicken strips into the beaten eggs, ensuring they are completely coated; this helps the breadcrumbs stick well.
  6. Finally, press the chicken strips into the seasoned panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure an even, thick coating of crunch.
  7. Carefully place the prepared chicken strips into the hot oil, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3–4 minutes per side.
  8. Use tongs to remove the cooked strips from the oil and transfer them to a paper-towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. Repeat with remaining chicken strips, maintaining temperature and ensuring each batch fries evenly to achieve uniform crispiness.
  10. Serve the crispy chicken strips hot, with your favorite dipping sauce or just on their own to enjoy that crunchy, flavorful coating.
