Ingredients

  • 1 slice fresh sage chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme chopped
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 pounds turkey breast skin-on or skinless
  • to taste salt and pepper

Equipment

  • Slow cooker
  • Sharp knife

Method

  1. Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels, then season generously with salt and pepper on all sides.
  2. Place the chopped sage, minced garlic, and chopped thyme into the slow cooker, spreading them evenly across the bottom.
  3. Add the turkey breast on top of the herbs inside the slow cooker, ensuring it rests on the bed of aromatics.
  4. Pour the chicken broth over the turkey, ensuring it surrounds the meat for even moisture.
  5. Cover the slow cooker with the lid, set it to low, and cook for about 4 hours. The meat should be tender and easily shred with a fork.
  6. Once done, transfer the turkey to a serving platter and tent loosely with foil to rest for 10 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile, skim any excess fat from the cooking liquid and pour the remaining broth into a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer and cook until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes, creating a rich gravy.
  8. Slice the turkey breast into even pieces, revealing the moist, tender interior and fragrant exterior.
  9. Serve the slices with the warm herb gravy poured over the top, garnished with extra fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the turkey with herbs and garlic overnight before slow-cooking.
