Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced about 8-10 strawberries
  • 1 cup coconut milk full-fat or light, according to preference
  • 1 1/2 cups ice cubes
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup optional, for added sweetness
  • 1/2 cup additional strawberries, sliced for garnish optional

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Place the sliced strawberries, coconut milk, honey (if using), and ice cubes into the blender.
  2. Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and frosty, about 30-40 seconds, listening for the crackling ice and observing the vibrant pink color develop.
  3. Stop the blender and check the consistency; add more ice if you prefer a thicker, colder drink, then blend again briefly.
  4. Pour the blended mixture into chilled glasses, filling each about three-quarters full, and watch the pink hue swirl invitingly.
  5. Garnish each drink with a sliced strawberry and a small sprinkle of shredded coconut if desired for a finishing touch.
  6. Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy the refreshing, tropical flavors of this smooth, velvety Strawberry Colada.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use coconut yogurt or almond milk. To make it more decadent, add banana or a splash of rum for an adult version.
