Ingredients

  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk acts as the main flavor and sticky sweetener
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour for the dough structure
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder helps the rolls rise slightly
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter adds richness to the dough

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Rolling pin
  • Pastry Brush

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Measure out the sweetened condensed milk and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter until it's just liquid, then let it cool slightly. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and baking powder, whisking to evenly distribute.
  3. Add the sweetened condensed milk to the cooled melted butter, stirring until smooth and creamy.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the bowl with dry ingredients, then fold everything together using a spatula or spoon until a sticky dough forms. It should be slightly lumpy but well combined.
  5. Lightly flour a clean surface and your rolling pin. Turn the dough out onto the floured area and gently roll it into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
  6. Cut the rolled dough into 8 equal rectangles or squares, then carefully shape each piece into a round ball or oval.
  7. Place the shaped dough pieces onto the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 1 inch apart. Brush the tops lightly with additional melted butter if desired for shine.
  8. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and fragrant. The tops will look slightly caramelized and inviting.
  9. Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. The aroma of caramel and baked bread will fill your kitchen.
  10. Serve the rolls warm or at room temperature. They should be soft and sticky inside, with a subtly crispy exterior—a perfect sweet treat for any occasion.
