Method
- Place the cubed watermelon into a blender.
- Blend the watermelon on high until it’s completely smooth and liquidy, about 30 seconds. You should see a vibrant red or pink juice start to form.
- Pour the blended watermelon through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher, using the back of a spoon to help push the juice through. Discard or set aside the pulp.
- Add the fresh lemon juice to the strained watermelon juice and stir well, creating a balanced mixture of sweet and tart.
- If desired, stir in honey or simple syrup for extra sweetness, tasting and adjusting as needed.
- Sprinkle a pinch of salt into the mixture to enhance the flavors, then give it one last stir together.
- Chill the watermelon lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve the watermelon lemonade over ice in glasses, garnished with a wedge or slice of watermelon or lemon if desired.
Notes
For a sparkling version, top with club soda just before serving. You can also add fresh mint for an extra refreshing touch.
