Ingredients

  • 4 cups ripe watermelon, cubed seedless preferred
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice about 2-3 lemons
  • to taste honey or sugar optional, for added sweetness
  • 4 cups ice cubes

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Jug or Pitcher

Method

  1. Place the cubed watermelon into the blender, adding the ice cubes next to ensure a chilled mix.
  2. Blend on high until the watermelon and ice break down into a smooth, vibrant pink liquid, and the mixture is frothy and well combined.
  3. Pour the fresh lemon juice into the blender and briefly pulse to incorporate the citrus flavor into the watermelon base.
  4. Taste the mixture and if desired, stir in honey or sugar to boost sweetness, then blend again until fully dissolved and smooth.
  5. Pour the refreshing pink liquid into a jug or pitcher, then give it a quick stir to combine any ingredients evenly.
  6. Serve the Watermelon Lemonade immediately over ice in glasses, with a slice of lemon or a small wedge of watermelon for garnish if desired.

Notes

For a less sweet version, reduce or omit the honey or sugar. Using seedless watermelon simplifies preparation. Best enjoyed immediately for maximum freshness.
